Salsa On2 classes in San Francisco

No. Intro to Salsa is built for people starting on their own — no partner and no experience needed. Technique Time is partner-free. You can also come with a friend.

Common salsa styles include Salsa On2, On1, Salsa Caleña, and Rueda de Casino. We teach Salsa On2 (aka New York-style, or Mambo). What sets salsa On2 apart from other styles is it emphasizes the "tumbao", or the rhythm of the conga, and feels very deeply connected with the music.

Intro to Salsa. You’ll learn On2 timing, core turns, and how to lead and follow in a social setting throughout this one month progressive course. Every level that follows (in fact everything you will learn in salsa) builds on the fundamentals we teach here.

Clothes you can move in are fine — there’s no dress code. If you have dance shoes or heels, you’re good to go. If not, wear comfortable shoes without much traction (leather-soled dress shoes or hard rubber) so they don’t stick on the floor.

A one month Simple Pass (4 classes) is $80. Price per class goes down if you book a package with more classes. Drop-ins are $35 for Intro's first class of a cycle, and $22 for every other drop-in.

SFSA is at Alonzo King Lines Ballet Center at 26 7th St. in downtown San Francisco. It's half a block away from Civic Center BART, MUNI, and main bus lines. It's about 2 blocks away from the civic center parking garage, and there's several parking garages in the area as well if you're driving.

New students may drop into Intro only on the first class of a cycle, and must register in advance. Technique Time is fully drop-in friendly, but recommended for students who have completed Intro, or have the basics of On2 down already.
